My Mother the Slug
That's what my kids will say when they hear it's been nearly a full month since I've posted to their blog. So much has happened, there is no way I can fully recap!
Abbie has turned three, started using the potty all of the time and started preschool on the 8th of September (her birthday). On her first day of school they goofed and didn't put her on the bus, so when I got to daycare she wasn't there and no one knew where she was (she was fine, waiting at school for me, Mom wasn't so fine!). Since then things have gone smoothly. She's started wearing a med-alert bracelet all of the time that ids her as allergic to certain foods. This helps keep everyone on their toes in regards to what she can and can't have.
Meg is doing well. 4th grade hasn't proved to be a big challenge, yet, except for the organizational issues that she's always struggled with. If she can remember to bring things home, she's doing well! She goes on a three day, two night trip next Monday with the entire 4th grade class - to Hartley, which is an "Outdoor Classroom". They camp in dorms and supposedly have a wonderful time. I hope so! Meg got her head-gear this week. It's an awful contraption that makes her look a bit like Frankenstein, but she doesn't seem to mind - she even laughs about the Frankenstein bit. Her overbite is already lessoning and the Ortho said 6-8 months she'll wear this. Her jaw is in "Heavy Traction". Ouch.
Ellie is finally adjusting to full days and LOVES Kindergarten!! We cut back on a considerable portion of her medication, in hopes of helping her come out of the zombie stage. It's seems to be helping. She started play therapy this week and will continue meeting with that therapist off and on to help her learn some coping skills and anger management. Next week I will meet with an OT to talk about helping her with sensory integration isssues . We're hopeful it will help her with her sensitivity to noise and help develop her motor skills (which are behind for her age).
Well, there, I think I caught everyone up. I will try to do better and at least post once or twice a week!!
