You put your right arm in

The other night at Girl Scouts some of the girls were doing the "Hustle". Ellie asked me "What's the Hustle?" and I told her it was a dance. A few minutes later she came over and asked me "Is the Hustle like the Hokey Pokey?". How cute. :)

ACK! Another month has passed without me blogging. For shame! *sigh* Life here is so hectic (and stressful) I look at the list of things to do in the morning and think, yes, I'll blog, just not *right now*. O.k., I really must try to do better!

Let's see, we'll start at the top. Meghen is doing fairly well in the 4th grade at Handley. She seems to like it there pretty well, and with the exception of a couple of large math projects (that she's had orginazational issues with) bringing down her grade, she has better grades then she's had in several school years (for the first marking period - it's usually the worst). She does have a fantastic teacher who has been working closely with us. Today I receive her report card and have parent teacher conferences, so she's made it through the first 6 weeks with only a few minor hitches!

Meghen went for allergy testing yesterday. She'll have to have two more sets of testing done next week, but the first set show a pretty strong reaction to ragweed and cats (poor Chester) plus dust mites and an outside mold. The ENT (ear, nose, throat doc) had requested the allergy testing be done because Meg's sinuses were not improving, but getting worse. She is going to have sinus surgery on December 18th and he doesn't want them to just build right back up to where they are now.

Ellie still is liking school fairly well. I meet with her teacher today as well, and though her teacher has the personality of a wet blanket, I am hoping she has some information for me about where Ellie is both academically and with her behavior.

Last month we took her off the medication and she has definately been more "with it", not in such a daze, but unfortunately, her mood is too instable. We started a different medication over the weekend to help her get it back in line.

Yesterday I met with the Occupational Therapist that did Ellie's evaluation for sensory integration dysfunction. She has recommended OT for Ellie twice a week and also recommened that a speech screening be done. I'm fairly sure I'm going to ask the school to provide speech services for Ellie, if it's decided she needs them, just because the driving is getting a little overwhelming.

Ellie is enjoying the fall! She loves raking up the leaves and jumping in. Actually, at the daycare that we use, there are rakes all over the front yard, which is a bit strange when you see all the leaves around (you're thinking, it looks like someone's been working, but there are SO many leaves!). Anyhow the raking and jumping is a favorite pass-time at daycare. Rake, rake, rake, jump, jump, jump. Over and over again. They love it. It's good excersise too, they came home TIRED!

I went with Ellie's class to the pumpkin farm last week. Try driving 5 gifted 5 and 6 y.o. kids to the pumpkin farm. Oh my, that was a trip. I got lost twice on the way there and once on the way back. Mainly because I was so distracted by the kids telling me which way to go, which way I was going and reading all the street signs to me. "Mrs. Younce, that says Mackinaw Island, YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!!" It was hilarious! We had a great time.

Abbie is still loving preschool. She's missed several days because of a yucky cold that wouldn't go away, but it's finally cleared up and she's back to her old self.

Abbie is very into 'projects' right now. They do 'projects' at school and it's what she wants to do at home all the time, also. Projects include (the best I can tell) a whole lot of paper - cut into small pieces, a whole lot of tape - wadded and stuck to various small pieces of paper and crayon, markers (mostly on the arms, hands and legs) and glue (if she can sneak that by me). I have 'projects' taped all over the dining room and living room from my budding artist.

Well, this has gotten long, and if I would blog more consistently I could tell you more in a shorter post. I really will try harder!
