We put up the Christmas tree today, or rather, Bob and the girls put up the tree. I hate that I'm such a scrooge, but it always puts my in a foul mood when the tree comes out and that corny music starts to play . . .
However, the girls had a great time! Abbie keeps saying how pretty the tree is. They all loved putting up the ornaments and Abbie got the honor of placing the star this year.

Ellie isn't overly fond of her given name, Elisabeth. She's always quick to correct folks . . . "Call me ELLIE. E-L-L-I-E." In an attempt to get her to be more accepting of Elisabeth, Bob told her "But Ellie, the Queen's name is Elisabeth!" So, the next day, Ellie told the lunch and recess monitor at school that she could go ahead and call her Elisabeth, since it was the Queen's name! I guess it worked. :)

Wish me luck, tomorrow I have to make 9 dozen cookies for a cookie exchange I'm participating in. Of course, Abbie loves to help in the kitchen, so I figure I'll move at the rate of one half dozen cookies her day. Thankfully, she can't eat them, otherwise I'd probably end the day with less cookies than I start with.

Meghen, who is an awesome speller, decided to try out for the spelling bee. I was so proud of her! She came home after the tryouts and said "Mom, I got so nervous that I goofed up on my first word, and it was a BABY word!" I'm still super proud of her for trying, and realize that spelling bees (which require you to stand in front of a large group of people and speak) will probably never be her cup of tea.

I was just helping Abbie get ready to go down for her nap and when she sat on the toilet she almost fell in. I laughed and said "Whoops!". She replied, (with big eyes!) "Yes, I almost fell in, never to be seen again . . . " She's so funny, for a three year old. :)
